Optimism is a key to Happiness

Optimism is a key to Happiness

It is truly said “If you expect the worst, worst will happen. You are your own stress, your own anger, your own sadness and frustration. If you let things bother you, they will. So don’t let them. Just be happy. Nothing in life is easy, so make the best of all of it. Don’t dwell on the negatives, optimism is the key.”

I had always been a happy monkey in my schooldays. I had lots of friends, great teachers and a beautiful school compound where I used to play and roam around with my friends. My best friend was like a pillar to me. She used to stay with me everywhere, motivate me and we even used to sit in the class together. All in all, I spent most of the time with my best friend. Everything was going well until her parents decided to change her school and move to another city (In 11th standard, we need to choose our subjects and she was not getting Mathematics!). For me and my best friend, it was like everything is over. She convinced her parents that she will opt for computers but alas her parents were adamant (Now I think they did the right thing!) and applied for transfer certificate in my school.

I cried a lot because I would be going to lose my best friend whom I had spent every single minute of my life. I was so upset that I could not concentrate on my studies and my health was going down too. My mom has always been like my best friend. Whenever I am in trouble, I always seek her help. When I was going through this phase of life, my mom asked me if I want my best friend to be successful in her life. She told everyone has to accept few changes in life happily. What if I could not see my friend we can always talk on phone! My mom’s words changed the perspective of my life completely. I immediately called up my best friend and told her we could talk on phone after coming from school. Though it was not easy for us but we were happy that at least we would be connected through phone.

After my school started, I was again a happy monkey as I made new friends and yes I enjoyed my last two years of the school to the core. I had always been the topper of the class and I and my best friend shared our notes with each other and it really helped us in scoring best marks.

I am so grateful to my mom that she changed my perspective towards life and taught me not to let little things in life makes me upset. The bad things that happen are not always that bad and they seem worse because we let ourselves feel sad. Whenever you feel low, an optimistic attitude can make a better day. A little optimism brings the world a lot of joy. Look up to optimism and make the world live better!
