Lakme Absolute Eye Chromatic Baked Shadows ‘Day Queen’ Review, Swatches & EOTD

Once upon a time there lived a girl who used to think that baked eye shadows are the eye shadows that were baked in an oven like a cake. Ok that girl was me but honestly I am learning a lot after I started blogging. I now know what are baked eye shadows, pigments, corrector, LOTD, EOTD, FOTD and all makeup and beauty related terms. Today I am going to share my experience with Lakme Absolute Eye Chromatic Baked Shadows in ‘Day Queen’.

Lakme says-
Make a statement with this revolutionary eye shadow that has been baked on Italian terra cotta tiles and formulated with light reflecting pearls to deliver extraordinary shine with a silk finish. Use it dry for a soft day look and wet for a dramatic night look.

MBT says-
Lakme Absolute Eye Chromatic Baked Eye shadow duo comes in a black cardboard box packaging. The actual product comes in a square shaped pan with a transparent lid. It feels quite sturdy and light weight and can be easily carried around in a makeup bag. The transparent lid allows easy identification of the shade in case you hoard many from this range. The eye shadows themselves are domed and look really elegant. The packaging contains a dual sided sponge applicator which is pretty useless for me but is quite handy when you are traveling. It doesn't contain a mirror so you would have to make sure to carry one in your makeup bag. The shade name and other product details are mentioned at the bottom of the case.

The texture of the eye shadow is hard to look at but feels soft and smooth. Due to its hard texture, it is difficult to get enough color on the eye shadow brush. I need to sweep the brush several times to get decent amount of shadow. While sweeping the brush you can see a lot of fall out in the pan which is the biggest grumble for me. I tried applying with the finger and voila the pigmentation came out really well with no fall outs. It glides easily and blends effortlessly. The finish of the eye shadows is shimmery with metallic hues.

The pigmentation of the eye shadow is medium to build-able. If used with applicator you need to apply it several times to show up a noticeable color but when used with fingers the color payoff is pretty good. Baked eye shadows can be applied dry or wet. I generally use it as a dry application as it is much easier for me. The eye shadow does not tend to fall out at the time of application. The staying power is pretty average. It stays put on my oily lids for a good 4-5 hours with a primer underneath. I don’t think it would last long without a primer. It feels light on the lids and does not cause any irritations. The eye shadow duo does not crease or get patchy and fades evenly. It can be easily removed using an eye makeup remover or olive oil.

'Day Queen' consists of very light pistachio green and dark olive green color. It contains shimmers which are very subtle. The lighter shade has poor pigmentation and barely shows up on my lids. I need to apply it several times to get a noticeable color. I think it is meant to be used as a highlighting shade. The darker shade is more pigmented than the light one and gives decent color if applied wet or using a finger. I really don’t like the combination Lakme made in these duos. The highlighting shade is rather useless and doesn't look great when used with the darker shade. The duo looks better and makes my eyes bright when used with a base or primer. It suits both day and night time wear. It would look great on all skin tones.

PROS:
Texture feels soft and smooth during application.
Looks great when applied wet or with a primer.
Makes my eyes look bright and awake.
Does not crease.
Does not tend to fall out.
Suitable for both day and night wear.
The darker shade looks pretty and would look good on all skin tones.
The shimmers are very fine and subtle.
Easy to remove.
Sturdy and travel friendly packaging.

CONS:
Poor pigmentation if applied with brush.
I really don’t like the color combo but anyways it is a personal choice.
Useless applicator.

Overall Thoughts:
Lakme Absolute Chromatic Baked Eyeshadow duo in 'Day Queen' consists of light pistachio and dark olive green color. It contains shimmers which are very fine and subtle. The finish is shimmery with a metallic hue which makes my eyes look bright and fresh. When used wet or with primer, the colors appear more bright and vivid. The eyeshadow duo applies smoothly and blends effortlessly with no fall outs. It stays put on my lids for a good 4-5 hours after that it starts fading evenly. I would recommend this duo but only to be applied wet or with a primer.

Rating: 3.5/5

  8. Even though these looked very lucrative, gave these a pass. Baked shadows can be horrible failures at times. :(
But you still did a good job!
