I am shy in getting myself clicked, getting lots of attention and wearing bright lipsticks. When I saw Shy Cherry by Colorbar at their counter I got a bit scared as I thought it would just make me look like a clown. I kept looking at the other shades but the SA kept insisting me “Mam this shade would suit you a lot”. I was not sure how it would look on me (I hate using testers. Ewww!). Finally I bought it with the hope that it would suit me. Today I am going to share my experience with Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in Shy Cherry.

Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick comes in a silver casing with a transparent lid. The lid seems quite fragile and I feel it will break if it is accidently dropped. It snaps shut with a satisfactory click and can be easily carried around in a makeup bag. There is a color representation at the bottom of the lipstick that allows identifying the shade easily in case you hoard many from this range. The shade name and number are mentioned at the bottom of the lipstick. The scent of the lipstick is quite mild and pleasant and won’t bother people with sensitive noses.

The texture of the lipstick is soft, creamy and smooth (though not buttery smooth!). It applies and glides across the lips effortlessly. I prefer using it on its own rather than applying a lip liner first. With a firm grip, it glides evenly onto my lips without smudging, bleeding or feathering. The lipstick doesn’t feel greasy or waxy on my lips. It is neither moisturizing nor very dry. I do feel the need to apply a lip balm underneath it. If you have extremely dry lips, make sure to exfoliate your lips well as the lipstick has the tendency to highlight dry spots on the lips. My lips feel soft and hydrated after application. The lipstick provides a matte and smooth finish without highlighting the creases that happens with most of the matte lipsticks. I feel it makes my lips look flat yet attractive. It doesn’t settle into fine lines of the lips.

The pigmentation is superb and gives true deep color in a single coat. The lipstick provides full coverage and is a good bet for those who have heavy pigmented lips. The staying power is good and the color does not fade for a good 6-7 hours with eating or drinking. After that it starts fading leaving a strong tint behind. It doesn’t transfer easily onto the cups or mugs. Although it is a highly pigmented lipstick, it can be easily removed using a good lip remover. It does not stain or dry out my lips.

'Shy Cherry' is a warm cherry red color with a matte finish. It looks pretty when blotted and reapplied for a vibrant yet feminine look. Although it is bright shade, it isn't too dramatic and can be worn at any time of the day. You can always wear it in evening parties by topping it up with a gloss for a bold look. I tone down the rest of makeup whenever I wear this shade. It is not a statement red as it is more geared towards warm red. If you are not fond of bold red lipsticks but want to try muted reds then it is the best bet for you. It would look flattering on all skin tones.

It looks more reddish pink on my lips!

• Soft, smooth and creamy texture.
• Glides on smoothly.
• Richly pigmented.
• Good staying power.
• Does not wear off completely.
• Does not smudge or bleed.
• Wide range of shades available.
• Reasonably priced.
• Easily available.

CONS:
• It might accentuate your dry patches if you have extremely dry lips. Make sure to apply a lip balm underneath it.
• Fragile lid.

Overall Thoughts:

Colorbar Velvet Matte lipstick has got soft, smooth and creamy texture. It glides effortlessly and evenly across the lips without being patchy. It gives true color in a single swipe with a beautiful matte finish. It stays put on my lips for a good 6-7 hours with eating and drinking. Although it is not a drying lipstick but if you have extremely dry lips make sure to exfoliate your lips and apply a good lip balm. Shy Red is a beautiful warm cherry red color with a matte finish. It would look flattering on all skin tones. I shall definitely recommend it to everyone.
