When it comes to natural beauty products, castor oil has always intrigued me. Growing up, I heard my mom and grandma talk about its magic — thick, nourishing, and versatile. So when I came across Urban Botanics Castor Oil, a cold-pressed, 100% natural oil claiming to nourish hair, skin, lashes and nails, I knew I had to try it myself. I had used castor oil previously as well and it takes really long to empty it. After using it consistently for several months, I’m finally ready to share my honest, in-depth review of this product.

This is expected from pure castor oil, but it does mean that a little goes a long way.

How I Used Urban Botanics Castor Oil

I applied it directly to my scalp once or twice a week and left it for 2-3 hours before washing with shampoo. Make sure you warm it nicely and then apply.

For deeper nourishment, I often mixed it with coconut oil before application — this made the texture less heavy and helped with spreading.

On dry days, especially in winter or after long days outdoors, my friend massaged a few drops onto her cheeks, elbows, and heels. For her face, she used it at night only. 

I sometimes rub a drop of castor oil into each nail and the surrounding skin to help nourish brittle nails and dry cuticles.

With regular usage, my hair feel softer right after washes, even without a conditioner. My scalp felt less itchy, especially after long days out in the sun. I also mix with coconut, olive or sesame oil for body massage and I felt my skin feeling more hydrated than regular body lotion. 

After months of usage, the shiny, healthier appearance of my hair was noticeable even on no-heat days. My skin tone looked brighter in areas where I used the oil regularly.
